a trio of uglies

In an adventurous moment at the grocery store, I bought these.

Clockwise from the top: a batata, jicama, and a rutabaga. (Just noticed that the names all have a lot of a's.)

Now I have to do something with them. They're not pretty, maybe they will taste good.

Rutabaga are comfort food for me; peeled, cut up, boiled, then mashed with an unhealthy amount of butter... yum. No one else in my house will eat them.

And they're fun to say if you're able to roll your R's - R-r-r-r-rutabaga. Which I can only sometimes do.

Enjoy!

Happy Holidays! We must get together after the new year for an art day!

I left a jicama sitting too long while trying to figure out what to do with it. It started growing. I put it outside on a trellis. It grew into a really cool vine!

Wow, Sudat! I'd love to try that. Wonder if it would grow in NH?
