contortions of plumbing
Installing a new kitchen faucet. Always a challenge and a relief to get a plumbing job done.
And drawing a moving worker is a challenge too!

Started an idle sketch just waiting for a visitor, then turned it into something I actually liked.

I found this sketch from 2011 in an old sketchbook. Don't even remember why we had boxes packed for moving.

quick study of angles
I had to hang out in an office waiting for a student to arrive, so did this. Started out as an analysis of the lines and angles, then I had time to color it too.

interior scene
I started on one end of the sofa and was happy with how the proportions worked out and the scene is true to life with no preplanning. All this practice must be paying off!

a 4-hour layover
gives lots of sketching time. Pen and w/c in the journal, last month.
Simple scan, which is too simple. Can't brighten out the writing that shows through.

patterning helps
A quick sketch of what was in front of me got better when I invented the pattern for the book. Note to self on how to enliven a dull piece.

Sometimes the wonkiest drawing on the spongiest paper has such charm, that it just makes me smile.
