I watched a "How to Paint with Acrylics" DVD by a Scottish painter, Frank Clarke. Very generic, but I was absurdly pleased with the result.
Paint fast with a big brush and it will be ok, is his general motto. I was amazed at how the various terrain textures worked out here with that method!
Acrylic on a canvas panel. The painting is 11x14. This is the majority of the portion that fit on the scanner.

These are my ginormous sandals with super thick straps and fastenings. For when it's too hot for socks and hiking boots.
Gel pen and w/c crayon in the journal, while watching The Daily Show. Can't beat Jon Stewart's honesty in news coverage!

Wow, black gesso is the most dense black I've seen. After I spread it on the page, just to experment with the stuff, I looked around for something to fill the void.
The black here isn't a digital fill. It's the actual scan of the gesso, with paper glued on top.
Pen and w/c.

I took a break from the (to me) drag of scanning, scaling, and posting, but have been creating nonstop. Posting resumes NOW!
I don't collect ephemera, but all these bits turned up on the same day, so I took the opportunity to stick them in the journal.
Having discovered the true joy of gel medium and acrylic smooshing, I'm a convert to this way of filling a page.
