hanging around

waiting for the former Irene to move on.

The white aura in front of his face is actually a light image from the back side of the page. Scanning often brings up the unexpected.

imagining the coast

Pen and w/c in the journal. A scene similar to what's on the Ogunquit shoreline.

painted knee

I idly sketched my feet on the back of the cover of the Strathmore drawing pad--it's pebbly.

By the time I was done painting in (random colors), I liked the surface enough to post this.

reduced to sketching a guard rail

What was out the side window while I waited in the car.

An abstract landscape of the mind, I guess.

the cheerful company of flowers

My friend Jan always buys fresh flowers for wherever she happens to be staying, no matter what water container she has to put them in. In this case, a tea pitcher.

Pencil on Strathmore drawing paper, cut out and pasted in a lined journal.

DeGaulle

Another drawing of a TIME cover of Charles DeGaulle, former President of France.

I added color. The original was in black and white. Pastel on 140# paper.

Horowitz

I found an old book of people who had been on TIME magazine covers. This is my pastel version of the cover drawing of Vladimir Horowitz, pianist.

I saw him perform in the mid-1970s, a memorable concert!

Tweaking the new cover

The next journal volume is a brown Exacompta sketchbook (has gold-edged pages). The paper is slightly heavy with good tooth, similar to the Hand Book journal.

I found two of my random little abstracts to glue on the front and back for color.

a young cow in Nepal

Drawn from a photo posted online. He was curled up on a red brick surface.

Pausing a video

I found this guy in an old art documentary, "Paris: Making of the Modern." He wasn't sneering that I know of, but this is the moment I caught.

being my own model

Another leg drawing--painted in rather strange shades of flesh.
