reading, not drawing

Just to say that I finished Deathly Hallows, excellent read! The new job is going well, and I'm gardening and walking in non-family time.

I doodle in my journal, but you've seen enough drawings of my feet and left hand. I intend for postable drawing to occur any day now!

Crocs at Harry Potter 5

This is a triumph of drawing over a little girl's fidgety feet, while waiting for the movie to start. Color added at home.

The paper is a Xonex Ru journal with wonderful paper! I found these via www.notebookism.com
and though it's small, the paper is super for quick drawings with water.

(The movie was great!)

Just doodling.

creamy smooth paper

I'm now into a journal volume with paper that takes water! What a difference!

So I drew what was in front of me, the gel that's calming down an itchy spot. Ah, relief in both ways! I'll never use one of those paper-towel journals again!

lumpy cat back

This is one of the standard cat postures I see around here. The 3 lumps that stack up to form Fen.

three ears

Human ears are so much more interesting to draw than cats' ears.

And so varied! Pen and w/c on hemp paper.

finished

Ribbon knit on 14 stitches across, size 15 needles.

I love the colors! The piece is a bit heavy for its length, about 65 inches. A fun piece and one less skein in the stash.

new shoes

I love Merrill shoes and don't like flip-flops for the flapping sound and how they fall off so easily.

But yesterday at the shoe warehouse store I discovered Merrill's version of flip flops! Lots of stretchy fabric added to the standard straps. They don't make noise and they stay on!

Now my left second toe just has to get toughened up to the strappy invader. My right foot is fine with it.

Ballpoint and pastels on this journal paper that really blocks my creative choices!

knitting ribbon

Sorry for the bad scan, instead of an actual photo. I'm digging out closets and have no patience for photography and uploading.

Found this ribbon and am playing with a drop stitch. May be a scarf. May be a wall hanging.

channeling trees

I've been slowly cleaning and organizing closets and drawers lately. Today I found a postcard with a picture of this live oak outside Charleston, SC. We visited this amazing tree about 6 years ago.

It's so similar to the painting I did for my Live Earth post! Couldn't believe it!

Live Earth

May we all make a step toward helping our beautiful Earth survive our previous domination and thoughtless destruction.

Then we'll all have a better place to learn and grow.

May your colorful spirit take you to wonderful places

My family has a longtime association of working with Boeing in a variety of connections, so 747 means airplane to me. (Never flown on one.)

And now, a date of celebration!

tree-free (Thai?) paper

This paper is full of tiny embedded hairs, and has the quality of paper towels. I keep trying to brush hairs off drawings.

Only ballpoint pen works well without spreading or soaking through. Agh, I will move through this journal volume with many fewer options and much less joy than others, taping in most drawings.
