farm bell

This once rang on my grandmother's Kansas farm. We installed it on my deck in the mid-1980s.

It had absolutely no rust when we got it, though it was nearly 100 years old then. The acid rain of New England has left a strong coating of red-brown corrosion with tiny pits.

Fountain pen and blue pastel in the journal.

Thanks! It's kind of a heavy, bulky heirloom, but good in an emergency :-)
