not to scale

Idly drawing little loose items, not to matching scale.

heat and clear paths

The snow shovel and the gas meter, signs of wintery needs. Drawn during a warm day last week as we got out the leaf rakes and pruners.

Now it's chilly again. But the encroaching vines and brambles got snipped off before they could get a deep breath of spring.

Pen and w/c in the journal. I warped my writing in Gimp, loving the effect.

thinning acrylic with water

This is a first for me, painting with a lot of water in acrylic paint so it flows like watercolors. No big deal, just something new to try.

I like how the surface is unliftable, though.

a break for drawing

When cleaning house or doing chores, it's best to take a sketching break at regular intervals to keep one's sanity.

last of the yard work

Lots of leaves to rake, and we've done bags and bags already.

A quick standing drawing of the wheelbarrow, for no particular reason.

Tech pen and w/c in the journal--great sketch paper!

new travel paints

The lightest, smallest palette yet! A friend of a friend sent us both these palettes made with strips of Peerless Watercolor Paints.

These are color-saturated strips put into a folded cardstock cover. Perfect for dabbing a bit of color into a journal sketch.

I've only played with them a bit, but am delighted to try this as a super-light purse palette.

If you haven't voted already, tomorrow is THE DAY!! Finally, our chance to move past the religious-right's tyranny of fear and ideological division!

a flea market find

An excellent brass music stand for $20. I'll be using it as a simple easel for sketching while standing.

chiminea redux

Another attempt at this model. With background and penciled shadow. An ink shadow just seemed impossibly harsh.

towel rack

A convenient in-room towel storage and rack for that down-the-hall bathroom. I did just a partial coloring of the wall, not sure that worked.

juggling choices

For the DVD, VCR, TV and computer, plus the universal one.

Drawing all the buttons remind me of drawing skyscrapers with all the windows. We have created remotes that mirror our city buildings.

pencil case

I used everything on this one. Pencil, w/c, colored pencil, ink.

Should have started it on better paper than the thin lined stuff.
