cats and boxes

I found this sketch from 2011 in an old sketchbook. Don't even remember why we had boxes packed for moving.

But Chaucer loves any new horizontal place to lie on.

color impact

I love bright colored poster art, so went with that feeling here. A fast brush-pen sketch, flagrant marker-fillin.

Something bright for a winter day. And the purse isn't red, the keys aren't green, the walls aren't yellow . . .

the fish mug

The fish is a heavy clay addition to the thick mug. A lot of mass to keep tea hot longer, and great to draw.

suddenly the eye opens

Chaucer is sleeping soundly as I start to draw him, then suddenly the eye opens!

This is usually just before he has had enough of my observation and leaps away.

Serge Gainsbourg

I love the drawing video that is included in a 2-disc set about Serge Gainsbourg. This is a drawing from the paused video.

Always practicing

Mixing the colors of the beard and hair is somehow always a challenge for me. I did the background with a palette knife.

never paint a person head-on

I know that, and even better now! But I was mainly trying out a new palette mix. Not a success, but it's al-ll practice.

sketching, a great way to spend an hour. No buttons on that remote; I couldn't be bothered with teensy squares.

scribbly waterered down acrylic

Trying out acrylic as a loose watercolor method, not so successful. But the bear is always patient with my experiments. On sketchpaper.
